The pulses suppliers mostly
get their bulk from non-irrigated land with growers mostly dependent on the winter
and rainfalls. These extreme weathers results in reduction in seeded region
during rabi season, however, bulk of these organicpulses India come from West Bengal, Haryana, Costal Andhra Pradesh, Tamil
Nadu and Kerala, amongst other States. The major of the crops grown in these
areas include the urd (black matpe), peas, pigeon pea (toor dal), chick peas
(gram) and masur (lentil).
To encourage production of these crops and make the nation self
sufficient, the Indian Government has launched various incentive based schemes
and policies for the benefit of pulsessuppliers, manufacturers and exporters. These efforts include waiver of
agricultural loans, providing quality seeds at reasonable rates, providing
farming tips over the phone and waiver of electricity charges for agricultural
purposes.
